About Threnody.
Threnody carries the humanities: philosophy, comparative religion, the arts, music, and dance. Its six journals move at the pace serious interpretive work actually takes, rather than the pace a rolling-deadline system might prefer for laboratory science.
The name comes from a lament, a piece of music written to be sat with. That's the register the imprint aims for: scholarship on subjects that reward close, unhurried reading.
What every Threnody journal commits to.
Rigorous, transparent peer review
Every submission goes through structured peer review with clear editorial timelines, overseen by the journal's own editorial board.
Open access, no reader paywalls
Articles publish under Creative Commons (CC BY) licensing, free to read, download, and reuse from the day of publication.
Persistent identification
Every article receives a Crossref DOI, registered under prefix 10.63802, for permanent citation and resolution.
Indexed for discovery
Published research is indexed in Google Scholar, extending reach beyond the journal's own readership.
Archived for the long term
Content is preserved in CLOCKSS and the PKP Preservation Network, so it stays accessible even if a title or publisher discontinues.
Rolling submission
No fixed issue deadlines. Manuscripts are reviewed and published on a continuous basis.
Six journals across philosophy, religion, and the arts.
From comparative philosophy and Three Teachings studies to global music and dance scholarship, each journal keeps its own scope and editorial board under the Threnody name.
